There are 4 parts to maximising process & workflows into your organisation:
1) Process Mapping
2) Process Mining
3) Process Automation
4) Process Orchestration
As a very simplistic overview:
Process Mapping involves the diagramming of your organisations processes (the ‘how you want processes to work…’).
Process Mining is the deep dive into your current organisations processes (the ‘how your processes are actually working…‘
HINT: they are very rarely the same as the Process Mapping diagrams you drew up!
Process Automation is the automation & optimisation of the current processes (the ‘now lets fix the actual processes so that they are more aligned with the original process maps…‘)
Process Orchestration is the creation and automation and then orchestration and management of your automated processes
